Parking in the hamlet of La Danchère, on the left when you arrive at the wash house.
(S/E) Leave the car park and turn left at the wash house to reach the chapel. From the chapel, go to the end of the car park, cross the hamlet and follow the path straight ahead. You will come to signposts and the "Les Balmes" intersection.
(1) Turn right towards Lac du Lauvitel via La Rousse (1.5 hours and 2.3 km). Cross a concrete bridge.
Continue along this path, where you will see blue, white and red markings painted on rocks in the first section (variant ofthe GR®54).
This sunny trail climbs uphill, with occasional shaded areas where children can take a break. A little further up, you will reach an intersection.
(2) Leave the trail that branches off to the left and continue straight ahead (north-south). The markings disappear, but this is the only trail. After an hour and a half, you will reach a flat area where you can begin to see the roofs of the chalets in the distance, with a large rock on the left.
The lake is visible just after the trail starts, overlooking the lake (towards the east). Continue straight ahead.
(3) Lauvitel 1530 sign: Turn left towards La Danchère via Les Selles, 1 hour.
There are several picnic spots by the lake or among the rocks. The path descends to the left of the lake, crossing some rocks.
At the end of the rocks, a sign gives advice about marmots and another indicates the return to La Danchère via Les Selles (45 mins).
The first section of the trail is exposed, then descends mainly through the woods.
(4) You will come to a wooden bridge crossing the stream. Leave the path on the left (which joins the outward route) and follow the blue, white and red markings.
(1) Return to the crossroads you passed on the way there and continue straight ahead to the car park at the wash house (S/E).
