(S/E) Facing the pond, turn left and continue to the crossroads. Take Rue du Vieux Village on the left. Pass Rue des Fournils on the right, negotiate the right-hand bend and you will reach a three-way junction.

(1) Turn right and explore the streets of the old village with its many granite houses and bread ovens. Turn back, turn right and return to the street you left at the three-way junction. At the bend, go straight ahead to join the path around the lake.

(2) Turn left to follow the path: please note that this section of the trail is not marked and runs along the edge of the lake for approximately 250 metres.

(3) Cross the footbridge to reach the opposite bank, then turn right, following the GR® and GRP® trail markers.

(4) Pass by the old bridge of the Haute Thermelière iron mine, also known as the "Pont des Boches". Continue along the bank to the bridge.

(5) Cross the bridge to reach the path on the right marked in red. Continue along the lake until you reach the junction of the circular path.

(2) Turn left and then take the street on the right until you reach the initial fork.

(1) Continue straight ahead in the opposite direction to return to the bus stop (S/E).

Visit the old village of La Berthelière, where the houses have been renovated with exposed stonework and numerous bread ovens can be seen in the narrow streets.

The bridge of the former Thermelière iron mine can be seen from the south bank of the lake. This bridge was used to transport iron ore on wagons to La Roche-sur-Yon station, then to a ship in the Port of Les Sables d'Olonne bound for Germany. The mine ceased operations in 1912.
