From Oloron, take the N134 towards Somport. Leave this road after Bedous and turn right towards Lescun on the D239. At the first crossroads, turn left onto the D339 towards Lhers. At the fork, turn right onto the D340. At the first crossroads, go straight ahead. A little further on, at the next crossroads, continue straight ahead. Cross the Lamareich Bridge and continue to the Pont Lamary car park.
(S/E) From the car park at an altitude of 1,175 metres, take the track heading west along the left bank of the Gave d'Ansabère river through the meadows. You will reach the entrance to the forest.
(1) The well-marked path continues west to reach the pastures again, where it turns south. Pass in front of the Abri du Plaa d'Escoueste.
(2) Leave the track, which hooks off to the right, and take the path that enters the forest. It initially runs along the left bank of the Gave d'Ansabère. After a few bends, it moves away from the river and reaches pastures and then the Cabanes d'Ansabère at an altitude of 1,569 metres.
(3) Go around the first one on the right. Head south-east and find a path that passes to the left of large boulders. The path becomes clearly visible and heads south-west to a large rock.
(4) The path heads south-east, climbs two ledges and arrives at Lac d'Ansabère at an altitude of 1859 metres.
(5) After spending some time at the edge of this magnificent little lake, return via the same route to Pont de Lamary (S/E).
