From Val d'Allos Village, you will need to go to the Laus car park, which is accessed via a small mountain road that is open to traffic from mid-June to mid-October (weather permitting). During the high summer season, this car park, in the uphill direction, is regulated, limited and subject to a charge. Please do not hesitate to contact the Tourist Office.
(S/E) At the end of the car park, climb a few stone steps and follow a path heading south. Leave the Maison Forestière du Laus on your left. Cross a small wooden bridge over a stream and you will reach the start of the interpretive trail. Follow this trail, which is marked with information panels.
(1) At a fork, continue straight ahead on the trail. Note the Serpentine, a magnificent peat bog, on your right. Continue south to the next junction.
(2) Then turn sharply left. Keep to the left for the rest of the hike. You may be able to hear and see the guardians of the area, the marmots. Continue on to a magnificent viewpoint overlooking Lake Allos.
(3) Continue along the path, leaving the Notre-Dame des Monts Chapel on your left, and you will soon reach the Lac d'Allos Refuge.
(4) Begin your tour of the lake in either direction (the route suggests going anti-clockwise, i.e. starting on the right). Stay on the path closest to the lake.
(4) Turn right, leaving the refuge on your left and the chapel on your right. Return to the starting point (S/E) via the same route you took on the way there, but in the opposite direction.
