From Val d’Allos le Village, you’ll need to head to the Laus car park via a small mountain road which is open to traffic from mid-June to mid-October (weather permitting).
During the peak summer season, access to this car park is restricted, subject to capacity limits and a charge; please do not hesitate to contact the tourist office.
(S/E) Follow the path at the end of the car park, climb a few stone steps and you’ll reach a path leading to the Maison Forestière du Laus.
(1) Cross a small wooden bridge and continue until you reach a fork in the path.
(2) Turn left and you’ll reach another junction.
(3) Follow the path on your left towards Lac de la Petite Cayolle. You’ll reach a viewpoint overlooking Lac d’Allos.
(4) You’ll start to gain altitude on a challenging, rather rocky climb. At the fork in the road, carry straight on to reach a second fork.
(5) Turn left and you’ll reach Lac de la Petite Cayolle.
(6) Take the opportunity to stop for a break and admire this magnificent lake. Follow the path to the Col de la Petite Cayolle.
(7) Turn right to reach Lac des Garrets.
(8) After skirting the lake, the path climbs up to the ridge, passes just below the Sommet de Lausson and leads to the Pas du Lausson (altitude 2,602).
(9) Turn right as you begin the descent. You can see Lac d’Allos; you’ll come to a junction.
(10) Turn left and cross the junction you passed on the way up.
(3) (You can reach Lac d’Allos by turning left, although this involves a detour). Otherwise, continue your descent to return to the car park at the start (S/E) by following the route in reverse to the one taken on the way out.
