Park in Rue des Fontenottes in Besançon, near the small roundabout at the bottom of the street.
(S/E) At the roundabout, follow the signs for Les Salins de Bregille.
Go up the street and turn left to pass in front of the regional council.
Continue for about 200 metres until you see some stairs on the right with signs for Fort de Bregille piéton.
(1) Take these stairs and start climbing. After the stairs, follow the path, keeping towards Fort de Bregille. Stay on this path as you climb. Be careful, it's a bit steep. It takes about 20 minutes from the bottom of the stairs.
At the end of the path, turn right and you will reach the fort with its magnificent view of Besançon and the citadel.
(2) Pass in front of the fort on the right and follow the Grand Désert in the direction indicated.
(3) When you reach the plain, descend to the right to arrive at a crossroads and a sign indicating Grand Désert-Prés de Vaux.
(4) Opposite the sign, take the path through the gap where there is a bench to rejoin the trail. Stay on this path, following the signs for Chalezeule. You will be following part of the fitness trail.
You will come to a crossroads with signs for Vaux les Prés on the right. Do not take this road; continue until you reach the second sign for Vaux les Prés 2.4 km.
(5) Go down the path on the right (be careful, it is a little steep and slippery if it has rained). Continue along this path until you come out onto a tarmac road.
Continue straight ahead on this road, following the signs for Prés de Vaux.
(6) At the last house, take the path on the far right to go downhill and arrive at the water reservoir. Return to the road and go downhill to the bottom. There, turn right and walk past the community centre to take the path towards the town centre.
(7) Stay on this road.
(8) At the end of the path, take the road downhill on the left to find yourself on the side of the regional council and see the roundabout where you started (S/E).
