Description of the walk

In Bourg d'Oisans, head towards the school and park in the gymnasium car park.

(S/E) Then take the path that runs alongside the stream (signposted Col de Solure). You will come to a distinctive dyke made of tyres.

(1) Descend into the stream bed, cross it and start the climb up through the woods on the opposite side. The slope is very dry, but the series of switchbacks make for easy and efficient progress.
You will then reach a forest hut below the path.

(2) Continue along the path and at the next bend, leave the track and take a good path on the left (markedGR® Red and White) which cuts across the bends in the track. Then rejoin the track to reach the Col de Solude.

(3) Take the newly constructed path on the right, markedPR® (yellow), through the undergrowth and then across the meadows to join the track that leads to the Col Saint Jean pass.

(4) Descend via a new path through the mountain pastures, which enters the forest below Tête Fromentières (sign). The winding descent continues to the ruins of Le Puy.

(5) Here, a sign indicates Bourg-d'Oisans and La Paute via the path on the left. Do not take this path, but instead take the one on the right (yellow marker on a tree) to reach and cross the Ruisseau du Rat stream.

(6) Continue through the forest and follow an almost horizontal path to reach Bourg-d'Oisans and the car park where you started (S/E).

Notes

There is no water on this route except in the village of Villard Raymond, which can be reached in a few minutes from the Col de Solude.
This short hike takes place on remarkable trails (almost no stones), but the slope is steep both on the way up and on the way down.

Worth a visit

(S/E) Bourg-d'Oisans and its mineralogical museum await hikers.
Opposite is Alpe d'Huez and its 21 hairpin bends made famous by the Tour de France.
Further on towards the La Bérarde valley is the entrance to the great peaks of Oisans: La Meije, La Barre des Écrins and Les Bans.
For long-distance hikers, two trails pass nearby:
- theGR®50: Tour du Dauphiné,
- theGR®54: Tour de l'Oisans.

Nice circular loop!
I would say it's moderately difficult!
We took a detour via the summit of Pré-Gentil in the snow!
About thirty chamois above Villard Reymond
A magnificent descent with a 1,200-metre elevation drop for this circular route!

We did this hike in reverse, which means climbing sections that would (in my opinion) be more difficult going downhill. Cables installed near the summit are useful.
The paths are steep, narrow and therefore unforgiving, and the elevation gain is also significant: the difficult rating is therefore justified.

The view from the Tête de Fromentières is breathtaking and well worth the effort. We spent an hour there. The descent is tiring.

Trail in good condition. We didn't see anyone.
The difficulty seems reasonable and justified to me, with no respite on the ascent or descent.
Sublime ridge route.
The views on the way up and down are not to be missed.

Overrated difficulty (difficult)! Steady climb through the woods on a good path that almost cancels out the elevation gain. Difficulty to review and classify the hike as moderate. Be careful depending on the season (early July), as you may encounter Patous guarding sheep in a fenced field in the middle of the route, forcing you to go around it!

A beautiful climb! The trail is frequented by mountain bikes, which has caused some damage and means that the trail is not maintained (particularly on the tricky section along the cliff, where the bends have been worn away).
The elevation gains quickly, offering beautiful views of the Romanche plain and magnificent views of the Grandes Rousses massif, the famous Alpe d'Huez climb, La Meije, and more.
