Park above the monastery of Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez, in the car park reserved for visitors and hikers.
(S/E) Leave the car park via the small steps to return to the monastery and the bridge over the River Le Couzon. Walk past the monastery and the restaurant opposite. Continue on to reach the information point for the Chartreuse de Saint-Croix.
(1) Take the street going up to the right, which is Route de la Conty, then turn right again into thefirst alley. At the last house, the alley becomes a path. Continue up the path, which winds to the left. At the top, you will cross the tarmac road of La Challe.
(2) Turn right and follow it downhill until you reach the D30.
(3) Cross it carefully, as there is heavy traffic. Opposite, take the tarmac road, which then becomes a path. Descend towards the river, follow it on the left, then climb back up to reach the Croix du Désert. Then pass in front of the water treatment plant and rejoin the D30 at the entrance to Pavezin.
(4) Turn right and follow it, crossing Pavezin. Ignore all the streets on the left. You will arrive at the crossroads serving the Chez Courried neighbourhood.
(5) Turn right, downhill, cross this neighbourhood, then continue along the path that follows. You will come back to the D30. Take it to the right for about a hundred metres, with great caution. Take the bridge over the river and you will immediately come to a crossroads.
(6) Turn left onto Route du Petit Valluy. Go uphill, then past the hamlet of La Chappée, where you will find a trail junction at the end of the hamlet.
(7) Take this path opposite and you will soon reach a crossroads with several directions on the right. Continue straight ahead to reach another crossroads at the edge of the woods.
(8) Turn right and descend the very steep path to reach a road. Take it to the right to reach the visitor and hiker car park at the monastery of Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez (S/E).
