Departure from the car park of the Château de Sully-sur-Loire
(S/E). Follow the moat, with the château on your left. To do this, turn left at the junction with Avenue de Béthune, then left again until you reach a wall (which means going halfway around the château). Leave the moat by turning right to reach Rue du Maréchal Foch via the steps.
Yellow markings
(1) Turn left onto Rue du Maréchal Foch, then right onto Rue des Déportés at the first crossroads. After passing the town hall, keep left to follow Rue Porte Berry.
(2) Just after the Tourist Office, turn left onto Avenue de la Vénerie, which leads to the castle's lake: stay on this street until you reach Allée des Tilleuls shortly before the lake. Take Allée des Tilleuls on the right, which runs alongside the lake. Go down the dyke to get as close as possible to the lake. Follow it to the end, go around it after passing through the gate leading to the castle grounds, and continue straight ahead into the wooded area of the grounds, still following the dyke on your right.
(3) At the first crossroads, leave the park path and take the path that crosses the Sange river on the right, then retrace your steps, following the Sange river on your right. Once you have passed the sports facilities, continue along the grassy path opposite, after crossing the bridge over the Sange river. The winding grassy path eventually meets a small road.
(4) Continue opposite the small road, along the edge of a new lake. The grassy path first runs alongside the lake, about 20 metres away, then crosses it via the dyke before meeting a cross path, which you take to the right. This follows the lake until it meets a small road.
(5) At the crossroads, turn left onto the small road. This crosses the Sange, runs alongside a farm, then climbs up the Loire embankment to join theGR® de Pays Sentier Historique de la Vallée des Rois. Turn left onto this path. The small road offers beautiful views of the Loire on the right, overlooking the river by a few metres. At the crossroads, continue along the embankment for a few dozen metres and cross the Sange.
(6) Once you have crossed the Sange, enter the castle grounds again by going through the gate on the left. The path leads into the wooded area of the grounds. Turn right after about a hundred metres, where there is a grotto, and finish the walk on the straight path that leads to the castle. Cross the moat, facing the castle, then turn right to cross the moat again and return to the car park at the starting point (S/E).
