Access: From the D93 in Vercheny, follow the D565 towards Vercheny-le-Haut - Mairie and park in the car park on the right at the entrance to the hamlet of Le Temple.
(S/E) From the car park, turn right to climb towards the centre of the hamlet. At the first crossroads, turn right in front of the Place de l'Église (there is no longer a church!) and follow Rue du Raillet.
"Yellow signposts"
The road is paved at first, then crosses a few vineyards and becomes rocky as it leaves the village. Let a road descend to your right and continue climbing gently.
(1) At the next crossroads (bench on the right), leave Chemin du Mas on your left and continue straight ahead on Chemin de la Rourie. About 300m further on, in a bend, ignore a path down to the right (not marked on the map). After a short descent, you will come to a crossroads. Turn left onto Chemin des Blaches (ignore the main path straight ahead). Continue along the path through the vineyards, ignoring the access paths to the plots on either side.
(2) At the end of the vineyards, the path enters the forest and arrives at a crossroads (signposted Chemin des Blaches). Turn left onto a wider path, go through a gate and start climbing. The path winds its way up, offering views of the Drôme valley and the Vercors at times. After skirting a few cliffs, you will arrive at a crossroads.
(3) Turn left onto a small path which soon joins another path. Turn left again, continue climbing and you will reach a viewpoint. Follow the path and you will gradually arrive at a flat area at a crossroads.
No more signposts
(4) Take the path on the left marked with a sign for "Château". After a downhill section in the forest, the path arrives at the bottom of the rocky outcrop where the ruins of Barry Castle are located. Climb back up, then go around the ruins on the right to reach a splendid promontory.
(5) Follow the same route back to the junction on the path.
"Yellow markings"
(4) Turn left onto the path until you reach a junction.
(6) Continue straight ahead towards Le Serre (ignore the path on the right leading to Pas de la Bernarde). The rest of the descent is via wide switchbacks through the forest.
(7) At the bottom, pick up a path coming from the right and continue left along it. After a fairly stony and unpleasant section, leave a vague path on the right and continue downhill. Pass under the Roches (schist) where a few springs flow depending on the season. Ignore a path on the left (not marked on the map), pass a few ruins including a fountain and arrive at the first houses of the Temple.
(8) Pass between the houses on the left, return to the tarmac and follow the Chemin du Barry, which descends to the hamlet. Cross it and return to the car park (S/E).
