Park in the car park at Col des Étroits.
(S/E) Cross the road and take the path that climbs to the right, passing between sections of fortification walls and continuing along a pasture path. Turn right onto the tarmac road after a final fence (near a lodge). Climb up and you will arrive in front of a farm in the hamlet of Les Praises.
(1) Turn right again towards "Le Chasseron" on a slight incline and shortly after the farm, leave the tarmac road and take a stony path uphill on the left with a sign for "Refuge La Casba". (Do not continue on the tarmac road that descends to Sainte-Croix.)
Follow this path, which climbs gradually up the hillside through pastureland and then into the woods before emerging once again onto pastureland with the first views of the Alps.
(2) At the hikers' shelter, turn left and follow the footpath, leaving the road and rejoining it a little further up. Cross the road and continue straight ahead uphill on the footpath towards "Sommet du Chasseron" or Restaurant des Avattes.
At the top, do not take the fence passage on the right but go straight ahead on the footpath.
You will reach the Restaurant des Avattes.
(3) Take the path uphill (towards "Le Chasseron") along the ridge. Follow the directional signs at a crossroads.
(4) Continue towards "Sommet du Chasseron" along the ridge through pastureland. You will reach your destination.
(5) Begin the descent by following the marked trail through pastures. The trail then splits in two: take the left path with a fence crossing and arrive at a pasture path coming from the right.
Turn left, following the yellow diamond markings on the trees.
You will come to another fork in the path: be careful, the signs are a little further on (30 m) on the left at the edge of the forest. Go through the gate at the foot of the signs: head towards "La Dénériaz-Dessus" and start descending through the woods before returning to pastureland, passing large rocks to reach the Chalet des Roches Éboulées area.
(6) Continue along the passageway with the turnstile and footpath signs. Turn right towards Sainte-Croix. You will reach the "La Dénériaz-Dessus" lodge.
(7) Go around it at the bottom, following the path until you see signposts on the left.
Turn left onto a path (towards Sainte-Croix and Col des Étroits) that descends quite steeply until you reach another winding stone path, then turn left. You will reach the "La Dénériaz-Dessous" chalet with a shelter for hikers open to the public with a water fountain, tables, a toilet and a wood-burning stove.
(8) Follow a tarmac road downhill for 100m after the chalet, then take a left uphill into the woods at the signposts. You will come to a bend in the stony path. Follow this path downhill, following the sign for "Col des Étroits". At a right-hand bend, leave the road and turn left at the signposts, taking a fairly steep path downhill through the woods. You will come to a wooden bridge on the hillside spanning a small stream.
(9) Continue climbing up the hillside until you reach a perpendicular path. Turn right at the signpost for "Col des Étroits" and you will come to a winding gravel path. Here, turn left and climb uphill. You will come to a long bend in the tarmac road.
(10) Turn right to return to the Col des Étroits via the tarmac road (contrary to the signpost) and, after crossing the road, return to the car park (S/E).
