(S) From Rue du Centre, head towards Rue Neuve, go north to Place du Pont and turn left into Rue des Arts. After about 250 m, you will reach Rue de France.
(1) Turn right onto this street, which leads to Avenue de Neuchâtel, and continue north for about 200 m on this avenue.
(2) On the left, at 27 Avenue de Neuchâtel, you will see a sign for "Jura Höhenweg" No. 5. Take the Mont des Cerfs trail. Continue along this path until you reach Gittaz Dessous.
(3) Continue south on the left, pass the Café de la Gittaz and then turn right.
(4) Cross Gittaz Dessus and the Col de l'Aiguillon (1,324 m).
(5) Follow the "Jura Höhenweg" No. 5, which curves sharply to the right before reaching the Grange Neuve chalet.
(6) Continue along the Crêtes du Jura path to the foot of the Knoll.
(7) Climb to the summit (1,588 m and the highest point of the day) to enjoy the view.
(8) Descend to the fork.
(7) Continue on trail No. 5. The trail heads south-west and passes through La Poyette, La Languetine and La Bessonaz. After a few bends, you will enter Ballaigues.
(9) At the intersection with Grande Rue, stay on the "Ballaigues Vallorbe" trail until you reach a crossroads, about 200 metres after passing under the motorway.
(10) Leave path No. 5 on your left and take the small road on the right. Head north-west until you reach Lake Jougnenaz.
(11) Turn left onto the "Ballaigues - Vallorbe" cycle path. Cross the railway bridge, Rue du Nord, and head towards the town centre via Rue du Simplon, Rue du Signal and Rue de Pontarlier until you reach a bridge over the Orbe.
(12) Cross the river and go up Rue de l'Orbe to No. 19 for your accommodation for the day: B&B Laffely (E).
