Description of the walk

The walk starts at the edge of a field. There is no designated car park. It is advisable to park along the road, taking care to leave enough space for vehicles to pass, including farm vehicles.

(S/E) From the road between White Cross and La Petite Goutillais, continue along the road to L’Auberdière, keeping La Petite Goutillais on your right. Cross a road and continue straight ahead at the junction.

(1) At the GR® junction, turn back and take the fork to the right. Back on the road, continue straight ahead to Croix Malval.

(2) Turn sharply left and head for the car park (S/E).

This route of the Couesnon can be divided into two parts: a circular route to the west and another to the east, the latter of which can be shortened. The Couesnon has a very winding course as it crosses the granite massif. Its limestone-free water was used for a long time in paper mills in the 17th century. With this industry now gone, the Couesnon is a delight for salmonids and kayakers alike.
