The Bois de la Bondue

A circular route through the plains and some woodland of La Brosse-Montceau. Here you can admire the Château de La Brosse and a few historic wells. The route runs alongside part of the aqueduct, some of which is buried and some of which is above ground.

Description of the walk

Starting point at the car park of the village hall in La Brosse-Montceaux.

(S) Facing the village hall, take the path on the left to reach Rue du Château, which you take to the right. At the junction with Rue Grande, turn left, passing the castle gates on your right. Continue along Rue Grande, with another set of castle gates on your right.

(1) Opposite Notre-Dame Church, take Chemin des Châtaigniers on the right. Take the first path on the left, which soon reaches a crossroads; follow the path opposite, marked in yellow (GR®2). When you reach the first crossroads, continue straight ahead.

(2) At the junction with the buried aqueduct, take the path on the left, above the aqueduct. This path is marked by wooden or granite posts painted white. Continue along the path above the aqueduct, pass under the high-voltage power lines, and go round the aqueduct visitor centre. Cross the D156 and go straight on.

(3) When you reach a crossroads, turn right onto the path, which is still signposted. You will come to a small tarmac road; take this to the right. In the hamlet of Blanche, take the street on the left which ends in two paths.

(4) Take the one on the right; you are now on theGR®11E, marked in yellow. At the end of the track, follow the tarmac road and turn right to leave the GR®.

(5) When you reach the hamlet of La Bondue, turn left and then left again onto the D156. Turn onto the first path on the right at the edge of the Bois de la Bondue. Follow this path to the junction with the D124.

(6) Cross the road and continue along the path opposite, passing under the power lines. Cross the aqueduct and walk alongside the Bois de Chanteloup.

(7) At the signpost where two paths meet, continue to the right. Turn left, then at the end of the path turn right. This other path also turns left at the end to join yet another path.

(8) Turn right and follow the path all the way. Enter La Brosse-Montceaux again via Rue de la Forêt, which turns left.

(9) Take Rue Fleurie, the second street on the right. At the end, turn right to reach a small square. Take the first street on the left to reach the car park, which is on the right at the top of the street.

An easy walk with lovely views through the countryside; you pass through charming hamlets, the only downside being
the path between 5 and 6 is in places difficult to navigate due to dense vegetation, with trees blocking the way
I was lucky enough to spot several roe deer near LA BONDUE
The Château de LA BROSSE is very beautiful

This is the second time I’ve done this hike; the first time was three years ago. And I enjoyed it just as much.
Peace and quiet, wide open spaces. The paths are very muddy, so make sure you have very good walking boots.

A walk through woods and open countryside, including a stroll through the streets of La Brosse Monceaux: peaceful and easy.
2½ hours at a leisurely pace

A lovely walk in southern Seine-et-Marne, with fields stretching as far as the eye can see. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes, as the paths are very wet at this time of year. It took me 2 hours and 25 minutes to complete the walk, with a bit of rain, some wind, very muddy paths and a few photos taken along the way.

A lovely walk in Seine-et-Marne, through rolling countryside and not too challenging
