Park your vehicle in the car park on Place Francisque Viard in Les Échelles (S/E).
Take the road above the car park, which is theGR®9, also known as the Queen Béatrix de Savoie circuit (signposted). Turn right and head towards the cemetery.
(1) Take the path and follow the markings on the posts planted in the ground. There are three types of markings:GR® (red and white),PR® (yellow) and the Béatrix de Savoie pictogram.
Reach the Sainte Madeleine Chapel overlooking the Guiers Valley (panorama).
(2) Continue north on theGR®, reaching a crossroads of trails.
(3) Continue north-east on theGR® to reach Les Meulières.
(4) Continue climbing and reach a new crossroads at the edge of the woods and the mountain pasture.
(5) Cross the mountain pasture to reach the Ecolu viewpoint.
(6) Return to the previous crossroads.
(5) Turn right to begin the descent along the edge of the woods. Enter the woods on the left and reach the Meulières crossroads.
(4) Return to theGR® and stay on it until you reach the sign for Les Échelles via Combe Noire.
(3) Take the yellow-marked path on the right, which winds through the woods. Arrive at the houses of Combe Noire.
(7) Walk along the left bank of a canal before taking the D921 for about 200 metres.
Then turn left onto the lane that leads back to the car park. (S/E)
