Avoid in bad weather or when the ground is wet.

It leaves behind the bustling paths of the Confins Valley for the austere landscape of the Combe de la Grande Forclaz, then descends into the mountain pastures above Sallanches before climbing again to the enchanting Gouille des Fours valley, nestled against the rocky faces on the leeward side of the Aravis.Best tackled over one or two days (with a bivouac at the Gouille des Fours).

This hike is challenging, but it takes you off the beaten track between the Tardevant and Paccaly valleys. You’ll cross three valleys: Tardevant, Paccaly and Grand Crêt. And, of course, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Mont Blanc range on one side and the Jura on the other. In early summer, the flora here is extremely varied, helping you to forget a few tricky sections on the scree slopes.
