The starting point is in front of the La Ciotat Tourist Office, at the terminus of bus 69, which connects Aubagne to La Ciotat via Roquefort-la-Bédoule and Carnoux. It is also the terminus of line 79, which connects La Ciotat to Marseille. Stop: "Office du Tourisme".
There is also a large car park by the sea behind the Tourist Office.
(S/E) Head north along the palm tree-lined avenue parallel to the sea, Baie de la Ciotat. Further on, on the left, above, a church has been converted into an exhibition hall: this is Les Pénitents Bleus.
(1) At the crossroads, leave the road to Aubagne (Avenue Président Wilson) on your right and continue straight on towards the media library. Fifty metres further on, turn right and immediately keep left on the Voie Douce, marked by a gate and a concrete path. Follow the railway tracks and the Voie Douce to the station: pine trees, olive trees, rosemary, almond trees, etc.
(2) Take care when crossing Avenue Pierre Rovarch. Continue along the Voie Douce.
(3) Cross the D40A. At this point, there are no tracks for a few dozen metres. Follow the concrete path and the Voie Douce to reach the old station. There is a fitness area along the route. On the left is the Bastide Marin museum. There arenumerous benches.
(4) The old Ceyreste station has been converted into a restaurant: "Le wagon". Continue along the Voie Douce, which heads south. Further on, pass a series of posters about the history of the shipyards.
(5) Go through the tunnel. There are exercise equipment on the left as you exit the tunnel. On the left, La Ciotat - Ceyreste station, there are no longer any tracks; stay on the concrete track until the end, then go down the concrete and wooden stairs. Cross Chemin du Pareyraou, walk along the station car park and turn slightly to the right to reach Avenue de la Gare.
(6) Turn right and then immediately left onto Avenue Léo Lagrange.
(7) After No. 274, turn right onto a dirt track. View of the shipyards in the distance. A tarmac road crosses towards Ensoleillado on the left. Continue straight ahead on the concrete path.
(8) Turn right onto a path marked in blue that passes under a road further on. Please note that this path is closed in rainy weather (in which case, go around it by crossing the road). Crêperie Le Carpe Diem. Take Avenue de Saint-Jean on the right. Immediately afterwards, turn left onto Avenue André Bellon. At the end of the avenue, you will come to Port Saint-Jean. Seating facing the sea. Restaurant under the pine trees: "Le Nautique".
(9) Turn right towards the town, following the beaches as close to the coast as possible. This will take you to the intersection you passed on the way there.
(1) Turn right uphill, then immediately left. At the three-way junction just after, take Avenue Victor Hugo opposite, then Rue des Poilus opposite, which has many shops.
(10) Walk down to the church, reach the quay and turn left to reach the Tourist Office:
