From the roundabout at the bottom of the village, head towards Rodez for 800 m. Then turn left towards Les Vernhes. After 200 m, turn left again to find a car park called Vierge des Lacs, with height bars for motorhomes.
(S/E) Walk back up the road (D243) via a path below the car park. At the road, turn left and walk for about 100 metres.
(1) Take a small path that climbs up to the right. A sign indicates that you are at the start of the Vierge des Lacs route. Cross a pine forest, pass a chicane, and continue on the well-marked path that climbs up to the Vierge viewpoint.
(2) From here, you can admire the lake. Descend on the other side, following a fence along a field. Continue along the ridge to the edge of the woods, which you follow to the Adventure Park: Grimpe & Cîmes. Pass under the park, continue straight on to the hamlet of Les Vernhes, passing an ancient Roman fountain.
(3) Once you reach the hamlet, descend to the left to find the D243 (known as Route des Vernhes), which you cross to take the opposite direction: boat trips, bars, and Vernhes 1 beach. Go around the restaurant: Les Reflets du Lac. This beach is connected to a second one further to the right. Walk along the beach and take the footpath. At the boat ramp, take the small road on the right that leads back to the D243. Follow it to the right, walking alongside the small car park, then turn left to go back up towards the old village.
(3) Continue straight on towards the farm campsite.
(4) Look for the red and white markings ofthe GR®62or the red and yellow markings of the GTML. Turn right and follow these double markings, which will take you back to the Villefranquette farm.
(5) At the farm, turn right and follow a small path that joins the D243. Turn right for a few metres, then left to return to the car park (S/E).
