The Old Town of Monteils

Park in the car park at Monteils school.

(S/E) As you leave the car park, take the D253 through the village on the left until you reach the village square.

(1) Turn left and follow the sign for "Les Puechs". Follow the route first along a small road and then along a magnificent path, heading almost straight ahead at the end of it.

(2) At the end of the path, take the track on the right for 300 metres, following the sign for “Les Gardies”.

(3) At the next junction, turn right onto a path, following the PR® markings and the signs for "Calade des Arenas" then "La carrière", passing under the road.

(4) Turn right onto the road for 100 metres, then turn left to rejoin the marked path. You will finally arrive at the site of the Old Town at a fork in the path (elevation 229).

(5) Follow the markings and signs to the left: “Les Remparts Ouest”, “la Vieille Cité” and “l’Oppidum”. Continue for 400 metres until you reach another fork (elevation 225).

(6) Take the path on the left that leads downhill. Then turn right onto a track to reach a crossroads.

(7) Continue straight on, following the signposts.

(8) Head down to the left along a path through the trees, then climb back up to join a track.

(9) Follow it down to the right to reach the road. Take care when crossing it.

(10) Once on the other side of the road, follow the track then immediately turn right onto a single track and follow the markings.

(11) Cross the road to follow the path opposite and reach the car park (S/E).
