La Valserine, a wild river in Lélex

From Mijoux, take the D991 towards Chézery-Florens and park in Lélex (900 m), in the car park opposite the cable car and the Tourist Office.

(S/E) From the tourist information office, take the road on the left below. This passes in front of an old lapidary workshop and the town hall. Continue to the "La Chapelle" bar.

(1) Turn right down a small road. Take two bends to reach the junction with a track.

(2) Turn right onto a path that crosses a meadow and two streams. Follow the trail on the ground, passing a series of duckboards along the edge of the Valserine. You will arrive at the Pierre Louis Bridge and its mill. Cross the bridge, then immediately turn left towards Les Calamettes.

(4) Take the first path on the left. Keep heading south-west until you reach the end of the path at Moulin Neuf.

(5) Take the road on the right and follow the Valserine, keeping to the left until you reach the Pont de la Fruitière bridge.

(6) Cross the bridge, then turn left, cross the Valserine river and continue to the end of the road. Turn left and cross the path you took on the way there.

(1) Continue straight ahead, then turn left onto the path that passes in front of the post office and town hall. At the next crossroads, turn right and head for the Tourist Office (S/E).

• Avoid setting off alone. Use equipment that is suitable for the activity, properly adjusted and in good condition, including a head torch, a complete first aid kit, a survival blanket, etc.
