The Amorey tufa formations from Auberive

Starting point: car park on Rue de la Mairie, opposite the town hall. The route is marked in yellow and green

(S/E) Opposite the town hall, take Rue de la Mairie on the left to join Rue Côte de l'Abbatiale. Before the bridge, turn left onto the promenade along the Aube, passing a wash house.

(1) At the end of the promenade, turn left twice to reach Route de Chatillon and follow it to the left. After about 100 metres, turn right onto Chemin de Sinai.

(2) After about 150 metres, do not continue straight ahead towards the cemetery, but turn left. Follow this yellow and green signposted path, climb up to the edge of the fields, then enter the forest.

(3) At the crossroads, take the signposted path on the left, ignoring the Route Forestière de Montgérand on the left. The path crosses a beautiful forest, following the contours for about 1 km before descending towards the Ruisseau la Germainelle.

(4) Cross the stream on a small footbridge, then turn left and follow the Germainelle stream, keeping some distance from it.

(5) The path passes in front of a hut; turn left to get closer to the stream and arrive at the tufa formation.

(6) As this environment is very fragile, do not tread on the moss or walk in the stream. Continue along the main path until you reach the Amorey farm and its herds of cattle.

(7) Before the farm, take the paved Amorey Forest Road that turns right.

(8) Cross the Montgérand Forest Road (which you came across earlier) and continue straight ahead. Shortly afterwards, take the path on the right (heading east) until you reach the GR®7.

(9) Turn left towards Auberive. The path descends, passing in front of the Maison Forestière du Val de la Coudre, then joins the D150 at the waste disposal site.

(10) Continue straight ahead, passing a pond on your right.

(11) Turn right onto Route de Langres and quickly reach the car park (S/E) on the left via Rue de la Mairie.
