The Perry hike in Anjouin

This walk, suggested by the Chabris-Pays de Bazelle Community of Communes, allows you to discover the surroundings of Anjouin, passing near the Pierre Levée de Bellevue, then on the Perry, near the Château de la Roche, and ending at the Boulaye and the Maisons Rouges. The landscapes are typical of the northern Boischaut region of the Indre.

Description of the walk

The starting point is near the church and town hall in Anjouin. Follow the yellow rectangle signs.

(S/E) With your back to the church, turn right onto the D13 for 50 m, then turn left onto Rue Flandres Dunkerque 40, towards Orville.

(1) At the stop sign at La Braudière, cross the D922 carefully, leave Route d'Orville on your left and take a small street on the right heading south-west. It turns into a grassy farm track. At the first intersection, continue straight ahead and turn right at the second intersection. Leave a path on your left, then the one on the right leading to La Prunelaye. On the descent, you will see the Pierre Levée de Bellevue in the distance in the middle of a field on your left.

(2) Follow the signs on the right (signpost). Cross the D31b and take the grassy path on the left. It enters a small wood. Turn right and leave the wood. On the slight descent, turn right onto a path, then continue straight ahead to Les Gauchers.

(3) Follow the small road to the right for 30 m, then go down the grassy path on the left (signpost). Cross the Perry on a wooden footbridge and go up through a wooded area (through the hedge, you can see the Château de la Roche on the right). As you approach the D922, follow it on the left along a grassy path.

(4) With your back to the Gué Rabot lane, cross the D922 carefully and continue along the farm track opposite. Leave a path that joins La Roche on your right, then the one on the edge of the woods on your left. Enter the Bois de la Garenne and reach La Bézarderie. Continue on the small road towards the east, then turn left onto the road leading to La Bûche and Le Petit Chézeau.

(5) Take the path on the right to cross the Bûche farm and continue along the farm track. After a left-hand bend, turn right twice onto grassy paths and continue to a road.

(6) Follow it to the right to cross Perry and, 200 m after a right-hand bend, take a farm track on the left. Turn left to join La Boulaye.

(7) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead towards the rural lodge, then turn right. At the end of the road, continue on the farm track to the right of the last building. Continue straight ahead south to cross a wood.

(8) Cross the D13 and continue across the fields. At the T-junction, turn right to join and follow the small road on the left leading to the Maisons Rouges.

(9) Leave the road by turning right, then after a few metres, turn slightly left at the iron cross (not marked on the IGN map). Follow a copse, then turn west and head for Les Moriets. Follow the small road that leads back to Anjouin. Take the first street on the right (no entry) and head for the town hall and church (S/E).
