Description of the walk

Starting point: Porspoder church. Park in the car park on Place de l'Église.

Red and white markings

(S/E) Walk past the church on your left, then turn right into a street leading to the coastal path. Take thefirst street on the left and walk past a large wash house. When you reach a small beach, turn right onto a grassy path.

(1) At the houses, turn left onto a path closest to the sea, with a large grassy area dotted with rocks on your right.

(2) Join a wider path and follow it to the left. Continue along a small tarmac road, ignoring the turnings on the right, and cross a car park by the beach.

Yellow markings

(3) Go through a wooden gate and immediately turn right to walk around the peninsula in an anti-clockwise direction.

No markings

(4) When you reach the foot of a rocky hill (masonry structure), climb the hill on the right for a beautiful view of the sea (be careful of the cliffs). Retrace your steps.

Yellow markings

(4) At the bottom of the hill, continue south on a path bordered by a metal cord (fragile area, do not leave the path).

(5) At a circle of stones on the ground (which appears to be recent), turn right to go around the western tip of the peninsula.

When you return to the stone circle, turn right and walk along the Porz Illiz cove. Note a small menhir on the edge of the path and continue north-east to the wooden barrier you passed on the way there.

Red and white markings

(3) Turn right, cross the car park again, then turn right at the two forks in the path.

(2) At the next intersection, leave the path and take a narrower path on the right, continuing along the coast.

(1) At the houses, turn right to follow the coastal path. At the small beach, go up the street on the left. At the next crossroads, turn right and head towards the church (S/E).

Notes

In dry weather, good trainers are sufficient for this short hike on good trails.

No water sources were found along the route.

The trail is moderately well marked, but the route is relatively easy to follow. A detailed map is always useful (at least the one accompanying this description).

Variations:
- Between points (1) and (2), on the way there or back, it is possible to use a different route by going straight along the path that crosses the grassy area.
- The tour of the Saint-Laurent Peninsula lends itself to various variations given the number of paths that intersect there.

Hike completed by the author on 22 February 2019.

Worth a visit

- Saint-Budoc Church (17th-19th century) (S/E).
- Beautiful panoramic views of the rocky coast.
- Small menhir on the Saint-Laurent Peninsula.

One of the most beautiful walks we have ever done, a very flat route, beautiful scenery, especially on a sunny day like today, enough space for everyone without necessarily crossing paths, between sky and sea, a magnificent photo opportunity.
The only downside is the dog poo. People have no manners and leave their dogs' poo lying in the middle of the paths.

Bring a picnic, swim on the white sandy beach.
A real marvel, a true paradise.

A beautiful route with varied landscapes under the lovely September sun.
The climb up the rock near the cement block offers a sweeping view of the surrounding coastline (not an easy climb for some people, and the descent is particularly daunting).
We were able to observe a rock pipit as well as wheatears.
A wonderful rediscovery to start our stay around Aber Ildut.

The beach was quite busy, but it became more scattered along the route.
