Description of the walk

Park near Porspoder Church.

(S/E) Take theGR®34from the church, passing near the town hall. The original path ran along the coast, but following a landslide, a detour via the town hall is necessary. At sea level, continue left towards the south-west until the first fork.

(1) Carry on, leaving the path on your left (which will be your return route), pass by Pointe de Garchine and continue on to the small port of Mazou.

(2) Walk along the harbour and note the posts for mooring boats. Following the signposts, turn left onto a dead-end street and, at the end, take a path on the left.

(3) Leave theGR® on your right and follow the path and a road leading to the D27. Follow this for about fifty metres to the left.

(4) Cross over and then turn right onto the path towards the Chapel of Saint-Ourzal.

(5) Leave the path heading towards the chapel and turn left. You will come to a wash house before turning left onto the Route de Saint-Ourzal for about 100 metres. Turn right onto the track leading towards Les Calés.

(6) Leave Les Calés on your right and head straight along the path leading to a municipal technical services building.
A little further on, turn left onto the small path leading to the Dolmen and Menhir of Prat-Joulou.

(7) Retrace your steps and continue left towards the D27.

(8) At the junction with the main road, take the path opposite to reach the Prat-Paul wash houses. A little further on, turn right to walk alongside a military site (antenna). Turn left, still skirting the same site, then turn right and follow the path leading to the orientation table. Join the GR®.

(1) Turn right onto theGR® which takes you back to the starting point, the church at Porspoder (S/E).

A very beautiful hike, but on the date we did it, the paths were waterlogged, forcing us to turn back in some places, especially between Traonigou and Prat Joulou, where we had to return to the D27.

The whole of the first section up to Mazou Harbour is absolutely stunning!
We couldn’t find the little path on the left at the end of the cul-de-sac (point 2), but we managed to get back on track by going a bit further!
At point 5, we didn’t go all the way to Saint Ourzal Chapel, but it’s well worth a look!
A lovely walk combining the seaside with a little path inland!
