Description of the walk

Departure from Anse de Penfoul. Park in the car park at the far end of the cove, along the D27, at the corner of a triangular intersection with the coastal tourist road (D127).
It is also possible to park in the car park located along the tourist road, at the exit of Penfoul.

Red and white markings

(S/E) Take the coastal tourist road (D127) and enter the village of Penfoul. Take thefirst left. After a right-hand bend, take thefirst left again. At the entrance to a left-hand bend, take a path on the right. At the tarmac, first turn right then left to follow another path. You will arrive near the tourist road at the exit of Penfoul (car park on the other side of the road).

(1) Continue north along the coastal path. Stay as close to the sea as possible, keeping to the ropes that line the path in places. Climb up to the foot of the rocks and, at the next junction, turn left, still staying as close to the sea as possible. This will take you to Pointe de Landuvez.

(2) The coastal path turns east-northeast and approaches the tourist road. Cross a stream at a car park on the other side of the road. Continue east-northeast on the coastal path. You will reach a fountain and a stone cross. Turn right to reach the nearby Saint-Samson Chapel.

(3) Return to the coastal path and follow it north-northeast, keeping some distance from the tourist road on your right. Cross a few streams on footbridges without railings. The path heads east-northeast and runs along the Pointe de Beg ar Manac'h. Pass a car park on your right and continue along the coastal path to a road (small car park).

(4) Walk around Pointe de Beg ar Galéti to see the two menhirs and return via the access road to the slipway.

(4) Continue along the road. You will come out onto the tourist road at the car park you saw earlier and follow it to the left to cross the hamlet of Trémazan. Pass a dead end on the left and, at the intersection that immediately follows, turn right.

(5) At the crossroads (calvary), turn left. Immediately turn left onto Route de Poull-Menoc. Continue along a field path.

(6) Cross the D127 and continue along the coastal path. Return to the tarmac road at a small car park and continue straight ahead. Take thefirst road on the left. At the crossroads shortly afterwards, go straight ahead and ignore the side streets.

Yellow markings

(7) At a fork, keep right (let theGR®34go left). Come out onto a road and follow it to the right until you reach a pedestrian crossing. Then turn left to cross the road and leave a small car park on your left.

(8) Then turn left to quickly reach the Notre-Dame Chapel (the IGN map is approximate here). Retrace your steps.

(8) Continue along the road to the left (south). At the three-way junction, keep left. At the crossroads, turn right onto Route du Viaduc. At the next crossroads, go straight ahead.

(9) Cross the D27 (post office) and go straight ahead. Ignore the turnings on the right and continue along a path that follows the platform of an old railway line. Go straight ahead (south-west). You will come to a road; follow it to the left for about 50 metres.

(10) Then turn right, staying on the tarmac. After about 20 metres, rejoin the old railway line and follow it to the left. The path runs parallel to the D27, but remains some distance away. Further on, rejoin the D27 and follow it carefully, ignoring two turnings on the left and then one on the right.

(11) Carefully cross the road and take the path on the other side that turns right. Further on, rejoin the tarmac road and continue straight ahead, ignoring the turnings on the left. Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and continue south-west along a field path.

(12) Cross a small road, leave the Kerspernic livestock buildings on your left and continue between the fields. Walk alongside a livestock building on your right and continue straight ahead for about 250 metres.

(13) At the crossroads, turn right at an acute angle. Further on, continue along the tarmac road.

(14) Take thefirst road on the left. You will come out onto the D27; follow it to the left. After the triangular intersection, cross the road carefully and return to the car park where you started (S/E).

What a shame to have to walk 5 km through cornfields on the way back, after the chapel (actually a collegiate church) of Kersaint.
It is better to return to the coast and come back the same way; the light will have changed, as will the tide.
The rocky chaos and numerous reefs give the landscape such extraordinary relief that you never tire of it.

Superb circular route with little road even on the return leg, which is not on the GR 34.
I missed the GPX transfer to my Fenix watch, so I used the PDF description, which could be improved in points 8.

We did this beautiful route in reverse order to enjoy the coastal scenery at high tide. The Kersaint chapel is well worth a visit and the coastal path is superb. At the Saint-Samson chapel, which is off the route, take a look at the wash house just across the road.
Thank you, Étienne, for this itinerary.
