Park in one of the car parks in the centre of the village of Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes.
(S/E) Walk past the small Romanesque church of Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes. At this point, cross the Route de Guillaumes and go behind the war memorial where the departmental hiking map is located; look for marker 230 and follow the signs for Les Rochers de Bramus. The ascending path passes in front of an abandoned chapel.
Yellow markings throughout the route
(1) Just a few metres after setting off, turn right at marker 231 and follow the signs for Les Rochers de Bramus to take a wooded path down to the road.
(2) Then turn left and follow the yellow markings to the wooden sign marked ‘Le Villard’.
(3) Turn left. About fifty metres further on is marker 23. Turn right and follow the signs for Les Rochers de Bramus. The wooded path follows an irrigation channel, then the climb begins. Halfway up the slope, the view of Saint-Martin-d’Entraunes is enhanced by an information panel where a break is well worth taking.
(4) At marker 23, turn left towards Val Pelens.
(5) Turn right. A sign indicates Chapelle Saint-Barnabé on the left, but as we will be heading there later, turn right.
(6) At marker 238, turn left towards Pointe de la Figuilière onto the track, which is passable by vehicle and partly tarmacked in places. The woodland is sparse. The Aiguilles de Pelens come into view and the setting is magical.
(7) At marker 237, turn left towards Pointe de la Figuilière.
(8) A series of signs lists the various surrounding peaks, offering a 360° view, and before us stands the summit of the Aspre, rising to 2,471 m. Turn back to marker 237.
(7) Turn left towards the Chapelle Saint-Barnabé. The path is very pleasant.
(9) Pass to the right of the cross and continue straight on along the stony path down to the road.
(10) Marker 236 is lying on the ground. Cross the road with care. The rest of the path is opposite, at the foot of the cross.
The D78, the Col des Champs road, is used by many vehicles, including a large number of cyclists and motorcyclists. Crossing it requires attention and caution
(11) Cross the D78 with care. The rest of the wooded path is 30 m further on, just before the bend to the left. Follow it to the next tarmac section of road. At this point, cross over and walk carefully alongside the descending road for 150 m, until you reach the Chapelle Saint-Jean, which has a larch roof.
(12) At marker 235, at an altitude of 1452 m, a wooded path starts in front of the chapel entrance. Follow the signs towards Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes. The path descends to the end point. At the road and marker 234, carefully walk up the road to the right for about 50 m. The path continues on the left.
(13) At marker 233, cross the road with care__ take the path opposite, and after a few metres, turn right at marker 229. Follow signs for Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes.
(14) At marker 228, turn right and follow signs for Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes. Walk carefully up the road for 150 m and turn left.
(15) Cross the Guillaumes road with care, and take the rough tarmac road opposite, which turns into a paved slanting street leading to the village of Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes. At the village entrance, turn left at the cross onto Rue Victor de Cessole, named after the winner of the Aiguilles de Pelens in 1905. Pass marker 226 and head to the car park in the village centre (S/E).
