In Éourres, park in the visitor car park outside the village. Take the path that runs parallel to the road, decorated with poems.
Yellow markings (fairly faded), cairns, stakes.
(S/E) From the village centre, take the street that climbs gently to the left. Pass between a fountain on the left and a Biocoop shop on the right, then a cross on the right. After a street on the left marked yellow-red (which you will not take), continue for 50 m.
(1) At the sign for "Col Saint-Pierre par la Sapie", turn left, along a house with blue shutters, onto a vague lane on the left, tarmac for only a few metres, which continues as a path towards the north-east.
(2) At the sign for "Les Damias" on the left, continue straight on towards "Montagne de Mare". Gentle climb through a pine forest then deciduous trees.
(3) After a large clearing followed by an ascent through deciduous trees, you will arrive at a crossroads. Continue straight ahead towards Col Saint-Pierre.
(4) At the edge of a deciduous forest, you will come to a ridge with a signpost in the distance.
(5) At the top of the ridge, there is a signpost: "Crête de Mare, 1453 m"; the first magnificent viewpoint over the Southern Alps. Turn right towards "Col de Verdun, Éourres". Follow the ridge, following the rather faded yellow markings.
(6) Unnamed summit at an altitude of 1622 metres. This is the highest point of the hike. Magnificent panoramic view.
Continue along the ridge of the plateau, first downhill, then level, then uphill, following the yellow markings, cairns and stakes.
(7) Veer slightly to the right towards the clearly visible summit due west.
(8) Summit of La Mare at an altitude of 1603 metres. Another magnificent panoramic view and a bird's eye view of Éourres on the right and the Col de Verdun straight ahead.
Head left, south-west, to take a ledge that descends almost parallel to the upper path. Then continue down a steep zigzag descent towards the Col de Verdun.
(9) Continue straight on towards Pied du Mulet.
(10) Arrive at the top of Pied du Mulet. View of Montagne de la Mare. Walk across a fairly bare plateau towards another summit.
(11) Summit of Pé de Méuou on OpenStreetMap, elevation 1537 on IGN. View of the Luberon to the south, Mont Ventoux to the north, and the Southern Alps to the west.
Turn around.
(12) Take a small valley (see photo) descending parallel to the arrival path (to the left of it). It is marked by an isolated pine tree and a yellow marker stake.
Continue down a steep descent.
(13) Join theGR® de Pays and its yellow-red markings. Follow it to the left.
(14) At the signpost "La Petite 1260 m", turn right at a right angle, heading towards the circular of Tatie. Descend into a spectacular gorge (Vallon de l'Ourdine). It is a long, steep descent over a series of scree slopes. Then the path flattens out as you approach Éourres (S/E).
