Park your car behind Saillans Town Hall (playground).
(S/E) Head towards the cemetery, turn right to go round it on the right-hand side (with the village of Saillans behind you).
(1) Head up to the left via the Chemin des Trois Croix.
(2) At the penultimate house, take a path on the right. The path then quickly enters a pine forest and winds its way up to the 484-metre mark.
(3) At this point, make sure to take the path that climbs to the left and continue climbing via wider switchbacks to the cairn at the summit at an altitude of 748 metres (magnificent view of Saillans and Espenel).
- The route on the ground (markings) may be slightly different before reaching the cairn (alt. 748 m).
(4) Then follow the path due north for just over 100 m to the fork.
(5) Do not head towards Chabrier. Turn left , keeping north. Pass the 791-metre mark and continue for 150 metres to a fork.
(6) Turn onto the grassy path on the right, then ignore the track (private property) and continue along the path on the left to reach a track suitable for vehicles.
(7) Turn left, heading north-east, onto this track and head for the Col des Vallons (elevation 688 m).
(8) Take the descent to the left (alt. 635 m) at the barrier.
(9) Turn left here and follow the track for about 700 m.
(10) Before a left-hand bend (telephone pole in the bend), take a path on the left. The path then runs flat for a while, then descends.
(11) Pass above Beaumecure (alt. 572 m).
(12) Then on to La Rechasse (elevation 502 m).
(13) Arrive at La Grosse Pierre (alt. 406 m). Head to the cemetery, cross the road and rejoin the (S/E).
