A very pleasant trail, between river, forest and valleys.

Description of the walk

On Rue de la Place in Beugin, not far from the church, there is a car park where you can park and start the hike.

This is aPR® route: follow the yellow signs, as the route is fairly well marked.

(S/E) Follow Rue de la Place to the left towards the northern exit of the village.

(1) After a bend, take the tree-lined path on the left and follow it straight ahead.

(2) Continue straight ahead along the path. Please note that the path marked "sentier de la Lawe" branches off to the left. This is a different walk! However, it is worth the detour, as it runs alongside the Lawe for a few hundred metres (we did the round trip and had no regrets). At the junction with the D86E2 road, continue straight ahead.

(3) Turn left towards the village of La Comté.

(4) Turn left onto the departmental road and a little further on, turn right onto a road that continues as a narrow path between two meadows. Cross a stream.

(5) Turn right just before the first houses, then continue left on a wide grassy path until you reach a street.

(6) Turn right, then left to the end of Grand Rue.

(7) Continue straight ahead, crossing the football pitch (or go around it if there is a match in progress). At the end, come out onto Rue du Château, which you will follow to the left until the end after crossing the river.

(8) Cross the Lawe

(9) Turn right onto Rue du 8 Mai and take the first left.

(10) After climbing Mont de la Comté, turn left and follow the path that joins theGR®127.

(11) Continue straight on theGR® then leave it at the first crossroads and continue straight on to the D86.

(12) Cross the road and return to the starting point (S/E).

Worth a visit

This hike first crosses the Bois d'Épenin forest along an old railway line. In this forest, you will come across another trail called the "sentier de la Lawe" (Lawe trail), which is not part of this hike but is worth a short detour! This trail has been developed and you walk along a boardwalk just above the Lawe.
Leaving the Bois d'Épenin, you head towards La Comté, which you cross to climb Mont de la Comté (183 m).
The return journey offers views over the surrounding countryside, between cultivated fields and the slag heaps of the mining region in the distance.

Ascent of Mont de La Comte between markers 9 and 10: deep, slippery ruts between altitudes 131 and 184. Best tackled in a group due to high risk of falling. Tricky section between markers 10 and 11 at altitude 177. Option to go via the embankment on the left. Very beautiful parish specific to Brittany panorama to discover between markers 10 and 12.

Varied route: villages, bridle paths, riverbanks, fields, copses.
You walk on high ground with views and in the valley.

A very pleasant route that takes us from Lawe to Mont de La Comté through forests, meadows and fields.
There are many paths, which are a little muddy today, but perfectly passable.
Be sure to take the path that runs alongside the Lawe. It is the second path on the left after 1 (there is a barrier to prevent bicycles from crossing). Take the path that opens up on the right about 50 metres before the bridge over the Lawe.
This path is perfectly maintained with wooden walkways and wire mesh to prevent slipping. The Lawe and the woods are magnificent in autumn. At the exit (new anti-bike barrier), take the path on the right, which will take you back to 2 to continue the route.
I confirm that it is necessary to follow the PR between 10 and 11. Unfortunately, the farmer has ploughed part of it. Do not hesitate to walk along the field; you will find the path again at the first right-angle bend.
There are lovely views once you reach the top of Mont de La Comté.
Thank you for this hike.

A very beautiful hike on a very beautiful morning.
The "stadium passage" is still closed but there is no graffiti, just simple contours.
Having read it in other comments, between 10 and 11, at "côte 177", follow the GR to the left, which after two right-angle turns puts you back on the "right path": the "straight" path shown on the map, as read, is impassable.

Very beautiful route... However, take the little detour along the Lawwe... it's magnificent!

At the moment (due to Covid), the stadium is closed.

Thank you very much for this lovely walk which allows us to see some magnificent scenery.

I think you'll be as disappointed as I am, but access to the La Comté sports ground is now impossible: the gate is closed and there's a large fence between the car park and the stadium.

A pleasant hike in dry, not too hot weather. Two points to note:
- About 50 metres from marker 5, the path between the two meadows is becoming overgrown (brambles). It is better to take the left-hand meadow and follow the hedge to rejoin the path just before the bridge.
- Halfway between markers 10 and 11, the map suggests crossing the field. It is better to walk along the edge of the field towards the northeast to find a track that will take you back to the route described.

Very pleasant hike to Mont de la Comté, but disappointing on the way back and dangerous.
We walked through fields that were being harvested. The harvester came very close to us. What's more, the return route isn't very well signposted and the map is misleading.

The route is mainly through fields and woods. Very little tarmac. We were unlucky as there was a lot of mist and fog, but above all a lot of mud in wet weather. A pleasant route, but you need to be properly equipped. Deep ruts on the climb up Mount Comté.

A very beautiful walk along a well-maintained trail through forests and countryside... you follow the Lawe river along the top of the forest.
You can walk along this small river by turning left shortly after Point 1 and you will reach Point 2... but be careful, it is only accessible in good weather and preferably in dry conditions as the small boardwalk can be slippery when wet... we walked back along it for a few hundred metres and it is pretty👍 (see photo).
Then the climb up Mont de la Comtė is nice but muddy in places. It had rained the day before and there were large ruts, which made it difficult.
I recommend this hike because of the beautiful scenery.
