Park at the Siva car park in the village of Presles. You can access the trail either by climbing up from Rencurel or from the village of Presles via the hamlet of Charmeil.
(S/E) From the car park, follow the Sentier de Découverte de la Siva et de la Goulandière trail southwards towards "Abri de la Goulandière". The route is very well signposted in yellow and green and follows the forest road at the beginning.
(1) Turn off to the left. There are numerous information panels along the trail, detailing the species of trees found in the forest. The trail then runs alongside several meadows where the path is not always very clear, especially once the grass has been cut, but the Grande Goulandière is clearly visible below.
(2) When you reach the Grande Goulandière, turn right and follow theGR®9(white and red markings) in the direction of Pas du Ranc / Belvédère du Rang.
(3) At the Petite Goulandière, the trail crosses the ruins of an old hamlet. Continue on theGR®9to the Belvédère du Ranc viewpoint.
(4) Enjoy the splendid panorama and the orientation table. Then turn back and follow theGR®9back up to Grande Goulandière.
(2) Once in the hamlet, walk up the meadow above, following its right-hand edge, and look for the start of the green and yellow marked path, which is not signposted but very well marked. Follow the path and its markings until it joins the tarmac road at the place indicated by a sign for "Les Antis" (and a picnic table).
(5) Ignore the road and continue on the green and yellow trail in the direction of the sign for "Le Chargeoir". After 300 metres, the trail crosses the tarmac road again. Turn right and continue for about 100 metres. On the left is the opening of a beautiful chasm, the Balme Riendre, overlooked by a stone arch.
(6) Turn back onto the tarmac road (Route Forestière de Pra l'Étang) and stay on it until you return to the Siva car park (S/E).
Alternative route after Balme Riendre: if you want to avoid ending up on the tarmac road, the map shows an alternative route (starting on your right, marked with black dashes) through the woods that leads directly to the Siva car park (S/E). The path is neither signposted nor maintained: you must head in the right direction and avoid areas where the vegetation is too dense.
