Description of the walk

Park in the car park near La Garde-Freinet Town Hall.

(S) With your back to the Town Hall, take the street heading east which goes downhill, pass in front of the Tourist Office to join the RD558 at the roundabout opposite the cemetery.

(1) Go around the roundabout on the left using the pedestrian crossings, then take the road that goes up to the cemetery entrance (Chemin du Défend), which is on your right. This will take you to the D75.

(2) Cross carefully and continue almost opposite on the path marked on a sign as "Ancien chemin du Plan de la Tour": yellow markings. Return to the D75, cross carefully and follow it to the right until you reach the nearby crossroads.

(3) Leave the D75 and turn left onto the tarmac road that climbs northwards, following the yellow markings. A sign indicates "La Mourre 3.1 km". Reach Le Curnier.

(4) Another sign indicates to turn right onto the path through the woods, following the sign for "La Mourre 2.9 km". You will reach a crossroads with a large hut on your left.

(5) Continue and take the path opposite, descending slightly, following the yellow markings. You will reach a three-way junction: signposted "Les Pierres Bleues".

(6) Take the path on the right, which descends, following the yellow markings.

(7) A sign for "Le Préverger" indicates your position and shows "La Mourre 1 km". Cross the bridge and continue along the yellow-marked path uphill.

(8) At this three-way junction, leave the tarmac road to La Mourre, which branches off to the right, and take the track opposite, marked in yellow. Continue straight ahead until you reach the junction with the D74, located near a transformer.

(9) Cross very carefully, walk a few metres to the right, then take Chemin des Cabrettes down to the left and pass "le château de papi Jean" on your left. Continue along the track, following the yellow markings, which are now fairly well signposted.

(10) At the three-way junction, keep to the track on the left, leaving the access to Bastide Prenn on your right. Take the track on the left before you reach the Hautes Cabrettes buildings and pass the Basses Cabrettes farm a few dozen metres further on.

(11) Take the track that descends to the right, marked in yellow, and cross the bridge.

(12) Immediately turn left onto a grassy path running alongside the stream, which heads north. You will reach a crossroads with a sign indicating "Serre du Loup".

(13) Follow the track on the right that climbs uphill and join the junction with Chemin de Camp Long.

(14) Take the track on the left and continue to the next crossroads.

(15) Turn onto the track on the left, go a little less than 100 m, then turn right onto the track that descends.

(16) At this junction, take the Piste des Bas Olivier on the left, which curves sharply to the right, passes the old Vaucron mine and arrives at the D72 after crossing the stream.

(17) Turn right and carefully follow the D72 for about 800 metres.

(18) Take the PF252 track that climbs to the left. Cross the ford and continue on the left, staying on the same track as it climbs. You will reach a junction near an antenna.

(19) Go straight ahead, negotiate the left-hand bend and keep left to stay on the track, leaving the access to the antenna on your right. You will reach a crossroads.

(20) Continue left and north on the main track. When you reach the VB9 cistern, keep right to follow the Castel Diaou track. Go around the summit of the same name on the right and join the junction with the Grand Courrent track: don't forget to admire the Roquebrune-sur-Argens rock for the first time.

(21) Go straight ahead to continue the descent on the Castel Diaou trail and stay on it until you reach the ford on the Couloubrier.

(22) Cross the ford and follow the track opposite, which climbs and runs alongside the D25. Turn right at the three-way junction to join the road and follow it. Cross it carefully, take the DFCI F17 track, known as Piste de la Charrette, which climbs slightly to the left. Pass a cistern on the right. You will reach a large crossroads.

(24) Stay on the main track and continue on the left, with the MY7 cistern on your right. Then stay on the main track, which descends and winds before reaching the crossroads at the two fire cisterns RAG14 and 18.

(25) Take the track on the left which descends, following the fence. Join the Piste des Campons.
