The Verts farm and the Rouge Mare monument

Parking and departure from the car park at Place de l'Église.

(S/E) Position yourself behind the building and take the street directly opposite. At the X-shaped crossroads, follow Chemin des Oliviers to the left.

Blue markings

(1) At the T-junction, turn right onto Chemin de la Ravine (tarmac road), go downhill and then uphill to the crossroads. Turn right onto Rue de Folleville, then take the first left onto Rue de la Mare aux Cerfs until you reach the sharp left-hand bend.

(2) Leave the road and turn right to pass through the wooden barriers. Continue along a small path between cultivated fields and hedges. Continue along this path, passing over old cement electricity poles lying across the path. At the last pole, there is a T-junction.

(3) Turn right to descend into the ravine: be careful, as the ground is very slippery when wet. Once you reach the field, at the T-junction, turn right and then left to descend the path and arrive at the D221 road.

(4) Follow the road to the right; there is very little traffic. Continue straight ahead, passing the Verts farm on the corner of the last right-hand bend, and continue to the calvary. Opposite is the Château de Vardes (private).

(5) At the stop sign, cross the D915 with caution, turn right and, 60 metres further on, take the first left, Rue Saint-Rémy. In the bend that follows, continue right onto Chemin des Sablons, which continues into the street of the same name. Join the D915, Avenue Lucien Bodin, at the entrance to the village of Neuf-Marché.

(6) At the T-junction, Avenue Lucien Bodin, turn left and proceed with caution along the road. In the wide left-hand bend that follows, take the first left, Rue de la Serrurerie. After the tarmac, take the grassy path and at the end, turn right-left-right to arrive in front of the Collégiale Saint-Pierre.

(7) Continue left onto Rue du Moulin, pass the presbytery on your right and continue to the T-junction. On the left-hand corner is an old steam engine (in an enclosed building). Turn right onto Grande Rue and continue to the traffic lights.

No signposts

(8) Cross the D915 at the pedestrian crossing and continue straight ahead on Rue Neuve des Fosses. Pass the ruins of the fortified castle on your right, go up the hill and take the right-hand bend until you reach the end.

(9) Take the second road on the left, Rue de Corval D19, continue for 500 m, and take the first road on the right. Join the road, Rue des Morins, continue straight ahead, Rue des Hayes, until you reach the Y-junction.

(10) Turn left onto Rue des Duprés. Enter the forest via Route Forestière des Flamands, ignore a forest road on the right, and take the first road on the left, just before Route Forestière de Martigny. Ignore the turn-off on the right and the X-junction that follows, and continue to Route Forestière du Monument.

(11) At the T-junction, turn left to reach the Rouge Mare monument a few metres further on, on the right. Retrace your steps on the Route Forestière du Monument and continue straight ahead to the Rond du Gros Bouleau junction.

(12) Take the second left, the Route Forestière du Gros Bouleau. Continue straight ahead for about 1,550 metres until the forest road ends, then continue straight ahead on the path. Follow the path that branches off to the right, ignoring two paths on the right. Continue on this same path until you reach the X-shaped junction, where you will see a marker with the inscription XI 587 on the left.

(13) Turn right and continue to the next X-shaped crossroads, Route Forestière de la Haye. At the crossroads, turn right and continue to the X-shaped crossroads, Rond des Quatre Cantons.

(14) Take the first left, Route Forestière du Robinet Cuit. Take the first road on the right until you reach the next crossroads. Take the second left. Continue straight ahead, staying on the same road, which branches off once to the right and once to the left, until you reach Route du Bord du Bois.

(15) Turn right until you reach the T-junction. Continue left on the D1, Rue Godard. Go straight ahead, continue around the right-hand bend, and turn right at the first street to enter Place de l'Église and reach the car park (S/E).
