Leave your car in the car parks near the town hall (be careful of blue zones).
(S/E) The starting point is at the entrance to Vif, just before the bridge over the Gresse.
Take the street called "Montée d'Uriol" on the opposite side of the river (there are hiking signs).
Follow the path until you reach the first hairpin bend.
(1) Continue, leaving the path to Champrond on your left, and the climb becomes steeper. Continue to a third hairpin bend.
(2) Continue straight ahead uphill until you reach the entrance to the pastures (there is a barrier).
(3) At the fork, continue straight ahead on a good path that climbs towards the ridge, ignoring the path on the left that climbs to L'Echaillon. Enjoy the beautiful views of the Vif plain and the Belledonne massif as you pass.
Continue straight ahead heading north, ignoring the paths on either side.
(4) When you reach the ridge, turn left onto a path (marked in yellow), leaving the previous path. You will soon reach the ridge path and the path that climbs up from Saint-Paul de-Varces.
(5) Turn right onto the ridge path and continue for about a hundred metres to reach a block of rocks offering a breathtaking view of the summit of Le Pieu and the eastern barrier of the Vercors (Col de l'Arc and Pic Saint-Michel).
Return via the same route to the starting point (S/E).
