The starting point is in the centre of the commune of Vif, accessible via the RD1075 (16 km south of Grenoble) and bus line 17 from Grenoble.
By car, parking is available at the town hall square (please note: avoid the blue zone).
(S/E) Cross the bridge over the Gresse and take the small road opposite (yellow hiking signs). The climb is on a wide but fairly steep track.
(1) At the first hairpin bend, ignore the path that continues straight ahead and continue climbing.
(2) At this bend, continue straight ahead, ignoring the path that climbs to the right (private).
(3) Turn left towards L'Échaillon (signs) and a little further up you will reach a site with a beautiful cabin. Continue along the path that follows the high-voltage power line.
(4) When you reach the highest point, you will find meadows that are ideal for a short break and to recharge your batteries. From here, it is possible to climb Le Pieu (1,270 metres above sea level): add a good two hours to your hike.
The trail then descends towards the Échaillon meadow.
(5) When you reach the hamlet, take the first track on the left towards Les Grands Amieux.
(6) At the fork (high-voltage pylon), turn left, descend the road and go through three hairpin bends.
(7) Take a path on the left towards Le Champa and then Les Saillants du Gua (shops).
(8) Once in the village, turn left and head back up towards the hamlet of Champrond.
(9) After a short descent, turn left onto the road that climbs back up, then follow a wide, almost flat path heading north-northeast, which takes you back to Vif, where you will find the path that climbs up to the first hairpin bend.
(1) Continue straight ahead, cross the bridge over the Gresse and return to the starting point (DA).
