The flower-filled promenade of West Nice

Park near number 200 on Avenue de la Lanterne.

(S/E) Walk up the avenue heading north for about a hundred metres, then take the^first road on the left, Avenue Raoul Dufy, and follow it down to a set of traffic lights.

(1) Turn left, then a few metres further on, turn right onto this road, which becomes a path.

(2) Turn left onto it, rejoin Avenue Raoul Dufy, and follow it to the traffic lights at a major junction.

(3) Turn right onto Avenue Sainte-Marguerite. Continue to the car park at Caucade Cemetery. Turn left onto Boulevard du Souvenir Français. Walk alongside the cemetery until you reach the junction of Boulevard Napoléon III and Boulevard du Souvenir Français. Cross the junction and continue straight on, onto Avenue des Eucalyptus. Turn left just before the bridge and stay on this road until you reach the junction with Allée des Mandariniers.

(4) Just before the bridge, turn left onto the path which leads to a flight of stairs.
When you reach Avenue Sainte Marguerite, turn right and follow it until you reach the junction with the post office. Turn right and follow the small, winding Avenue des Magnolias through the residential area.
When you reach the end of this avenue, marked by a block of flats’ gate, take the small flight of steps on the left which leads back onto Boulevard Napoléon III. Turn right onto it, cross at the traffic lights on Avenue de la Lanterne to reach Rue du Vieux Chemin de la Lanterne. This street soon becomes a path with steps that winds its way up the hill.
When you reach the top of the steps, turn left and follow the tarmac road of the Ancien Chemin de la Lanterne to reach the junction with Avenue de la Lanterne.

(5) Turn left onto Avenue de la Lanterne to reach the car park (S/E), near No. 200 on Avenue de la Lanterne.

At the start of this walk, at No. 200 Avenue de la Lanterne, stands a charming house decorated with colourful pieces of tiling and ceramics that is sure to catch everyone’s eye.
