Description of the route

The recommended starting point for this tour is in front of the tourist office in the centre of Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux. There is a large free car park behind the tourist office, allowing you to set off on your journey with peace of mind.

(S/E) After unloading your bike, go to the tourist office. Next to the bus stop is a hiking trail signpost. Walk up through the village to the roundabout to find the casino, the fruit shop and the St-Laurent-le-Cret hiking trail signpost (parking also available).

(1) Walk up alongside the car parks, enter the pasture and immediately turn right in front of the ski slope departure hut to reach the Le Camping crossroads.

(2) Descend the grassy path on the left, then join the old tramway, which you should take on the left to reach Les Maisonnettes.

(3) Leave the path to cross the pasture and reach the railway line, passing through a railway tunnel. You will arrive at a crossroads.

(4) Continue to the right, across the pastures, to reach Aux Pierres.

(5) Continue on the other side of the forest road until you reach En Fouradon.

(6) Turn right onto the white path, ignore another white path and, from Les Essards, go up the path on the right to reach Les Jeannez (ignore a path on the right).

(7) Take the white path that branches off to the left into the field. Climb up into the forest at Fusil Simple. Continue straight ahead and cross two clearings via grassy and earthy paths to reach Plan de Lajoux.

(8) Cross the small forest road in front of you, to the left of the hunters' hut, and climb up the white path to Terrailla.

(9) Descend to the right onto the small tarmac road and come out onto the D 344 road.

(10) Turn left twice in succession to reach the hamlet of Abbaye-en-Grandvaux.

(11) Continue along the D 437 road and, at the exit of the hamlet, take the tarmac road towards the lake. Pass by the hotel restaurant car park, then take a small path along the lake, near the lake's pumping station. Join a secondary tarmac road running alongside the lake to go around Lac de l'Abbaye to the south and cross the hamlet to the place called Les Bez, keeping to the right.

(12) Carefully cross the road after the guest house and take a small tarmac road westwards (left) through pastures to La Joux Derrière.

(13) Leave the carriage road via the cattle grid on the right and take the grassy path leading to En Demourey.

(14) Ride a few metres along the tarmac road to the left, then follow the white path that continues as a track to the right. Keep right and left on the path that leads to Les Bouvets d'Amont. Continue to the D330.

(15) Turn right onto the path that descends in a hairpin bend, don't miss the white path that climbs up to the left through the pastures to reach Croix de Pierre.

(16) Follow the marked path below Saint-Pierre. Continue straight ahead until you can't go any further. Then turn right and, at Les Gayolles, climb up opposite the valley to the hamlet of Les Poncets. Turn right at the hairpin bend to Les Poncets.

(17) Carefully cross the D437 road and take the white path opposite the hamlet, then the track on the left, to climb up towards Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux. You will arrive at the hamlet of Salave de Vent.

(18) Cross to the right, parallel to the road, then take a secondary path leading to Chemin de l'Œuf.
(19) Continue and keep to the right to reach the station entrance, from where you can see the main road to Saint-Laurent. Head there by following the street opposite the station, then keep to the right to return to the starting point. (S/E)
