From Canfranc, take the road to Col du Somport and, once out of the town, take the first small road on the right, towards the Santa Cristina hotel. Park near the hotel (the road is closed beyond this point).
(S/E) Start on the dirt road that crosses the Aragon River on a bridge and continue for 50 metres
(1) A path branches off to the left, climbing steeply. It is signposted (GR®11) and a sign clearly indicates Chinipres. Take this path through the woods. It climbs to the right, level with a concrete water tank.
(2) This will take you to the "area recreativa de Canal Roya", where there are facilities for picnics, barbecues and possibly camping (to be confirmed). Drinking water is available. Continue along the small path.
(3) Join a flat dirt road and follow it to the right. This road climbs up the Canal Roya valley, almost horizontally.
(4) Turn right onto a path leading to a bridge over the stream. Cross the bridge and climb up the other side.
(5) At a fork, take a path climbing up the slope on the right, with a signpost for Chiniprés. This path climbs quite steeply at first, then less so. Once you reach the hut (in ruins), you have arrived.
(6) Return the same way you came until you reach (S/E).
Optional: it is possible and fairly easy to climb a little above the Chiniprés hut (off the trail) for an even better view!
