Park on the Place de l’Église in Vault-de-Lugny. Don’t forget, before you set off or on your return, to visit the masterpiece that is Saint Germain Church, which houses a unique treasure trove of 13 murals depicting the Passion of Christ.
(S/E) Set off with your back to the church, heading south. Take a look at the bridge spanning the Cousin, which you will leave on your left. Then take the Chemin de Borland on your right.
(1) Walk straight up a steep, narrow path. Pass under a power line and ignore two paths on the left.
(2) On the left, a track climbs at right angles to the slope. Please note: the location of this track, through the undergrowth, may vary from season to season. Climb straight up the slope to the summit (calvary).
(3) Continue south-west and you will soon come across the remains of a Roman temple (bench) on the left. On the left, a spring that never runs dry flows down through the rocks and low walls.
(4) Head north-west then west for the descent (watch out for slippery conditions in wet weather).
(5) At the bottom, follow theGR®13to the right (red and white markings). Ignore a path branching off to the left.
(6) At the fork in the road, head slightly left with theGR®. About 150m further on, continue straight ahead (let theGR® head off to the left at a sharp angle). At the next junction, go straight ahead. At the junction near the village of Vermoiron, turn slightly right onto a small road. Follow this road to the wash house seen on the way up.
(1) Continue to the left to reach the car park (S/E).
