To reach the start from Irun, head towards the Aiako Harria Natural Park, climb the hairpin bends to the pass and descend to a car park at the Col d’Elurretxe, at an altitude of 490 m.
(S/E) Cross the road and take the path opposite heading north-east. This path is marked on the OpenStreetMap Hiking map as ‘Elurzuloen bidea’, which means ‘The Snow Path’ in Basque. It is also listed as ‘El Camino de los Neveros’ in Spanish and corresponds to the local trail SL-GI-1005
(1) Turn right onto the path which climbs and then winds its way back down through the forest. After taking a sharp right-hand bend, ignore two paths on the left and keep heading south-west.
(2) Pass under the power line, head down the path to the left to the stream, then climb back up the opposite slope. The path initially heads north-east, then veers to the right through a series of hairpin bends and turns south-south-west. Ignore all side trails.
(3) Cross the road and continue straight ahead along this path, which leads back to the starting car park (S/E).
