The starting point is at Corny-sur-Moselle in Le Paquis (campsite and port).
(S/E) At the port, turn right (east), follow the port and take the Charles le Téméraire circuit, which has been recently renovated for mountain bikers (well signposted). The path runs alongside the Moselle on a pleasant, shaded route to Jouy-aux-Arches (3.5 km). You will cross a historic site where the Battle of the Horseshoe took place, Lorraine's answer to Omaha Beach, which claimed 945 lives in September 1944 during the liberation of Metz. Continue walking along the Moselle to the foot of the Roman aqueduct (2nd century)
(1). Turn right and walk along the aqueduct. Cross the D657 road (take care). (Be careful when crossing the RN). Curiously, some houses were once built between these arches. At the far end is the Roman basin that collected water from the aqueduct and the hill and sent it underground to Metz (Divodorum for the Romans). From here, you can see the arches on the other side of the Moselle. Retrace your steps, go back down 100 metres and take the path on the left that runs alongside the gardens and orchards of this former winegrowing village.
(2) Continue straight ahead to Rue Notre-Dame (parallel to the main road). Pass the cemetery on your left before taking a forest path (Chemin d'Ochey) which will take you to Corny via another entrance to the village. Continue straight ahead until you reach the Corny-Fey road. Go down to the right until you reach the Corny-Jouy D657 road.
(3) Cross and continue left until you reach the town hall. Turn right towards the park until you reach the banks of the Moselle.
(4) Continue to the right. After 800m, you will find the car park after an 8.5km walk that flew by! (S/E).
