Park at the Col du Granier car park.
(S/E) Head towards the pass then turn left onto the Chemin de Joigny. Pass a path leading to a lovely viewpoint on your right as you gradually make your way towards Les Ravines. At the hamlet, ignore another path on the right and go straight on to reach a crossroads a few dozen metres further on.
(1) From there, you’ll find beautiful meadows filled with a multitude of fragrant mountain flowers, including the famous wild orchid, the Lady’s Slipper. If you’re lucky enough to spot one or more, keep your eyes peeled, as the goddess Venus is likely not far away! Turn right to reach the Granges de Joigny.
(2) Once past Les Granges de Joigny, where hay is stored, and if you look closely, you may spot the imprints of beautiful ammonites on the limestone slabs – these snail-shaped fossils dating back tens of millions of years.
Then turn back to return to the Col du Granier via the same route. Head back to the car park (S/E).
A lovely, unpretentious little walk with beautiful scenery and plenty of sunshine.
