Park in the car park next to the campsite in the village of Épernay.
(S/E) Walk back up towards the village, passing the inn above the car park, then turn left onto the road towards Col du Granier. About 100 metres after leaving the village, take the small path downhill just before the bend. After a short descent, continue along the path that climbs towards the hamlet of Plan Martin. Reach this hamlet.
(1) Turn left towards Plan du Bois. Shortly afterwards, the path joins the road. Continue left, following the yellowPR® markings. Cross the bridge over the Cozon. After the bridge, turn left onto the forest path and continue uphill to the hamlet of Les Martenons.
(2) Take the road on the right, which climbs slightly to the hamlet of La Réduire.
(3) At the end of the road after the hamlet, continue straight on along the forest track, which climbs steeply. A little further on, at a fork, climb towards Le Désert on the right, following the direction indicated by the wooden sign nailed to a tree. You will arrive at the Plan du Bois crossroads, where you will rejoin theGRP® Tour de Chartreuse.
(4) Take theGRP® on the left and follow the red and yellow markings to reach the Désert cross-country skiing centre.
(5) Leave theGRP® here and turn left onto the D45A towards Épernay. You will reach the village of Le Désert.
(6) Take the left fork at Les Trolles holiday centre and follow the small path that runs alongside it on the right, which is marked red and white for theGR®9. Descend to the hamlet of Les Bessons.
(7) At the exit of the hamlet, at the crossroads, follow the D45A to the left towards Épernay. In thesecond bend on the right, don't miss the small path that branches off to the right and descends very steeply. This small path joins the car park at the campsite (S/E).
