Park in the car park at the end of the road after the hamlet of La Riondette.
(S/E) Take the pretty marked path on the right which winds around the rocky depressions and joins the Col de la Sarriette.
(1) Descend the pass towards Pertuis. Reach the Pas du Pertuis.
(2) Reach the Larzot plateau, then follow the forest road on the left, which is only tarmac for 20 metres, and continue to the Belvédère de Perthuis with a lovely view of the Saint-Laurent-du-Pont valley.
(3) Continue along the path that climbs towards Arpison, leaving the Fetrus à Cellière path behind, then passing between the Pertuis and Arpison rocks. Reach the Arpison meadow.
(4) Note: the return trip to the Belvédère d'Arpison viewpoint is optional. If you do not wish to go there, continue towards the Col d'Arpison via a short climb to the left of the meadow.
(5) Then begin a long and beautiful descent to Habert de Billon (a very beautiful building and chapel).
(6) Immediately climb up to the left, leaving the Prairie de la Folie, which climbs up to the Col de la Ruchère on the right. Enter the Combe de l'Alienard, which is very steep and very direct, either via a good path on the right bank or another path on the left bank of this combe.
Here we took the left bank, which leads to the summit of the Alienard in the col's meadow.
Follow the ridge to the summit to admire the magnificent view overlooking the monastery and the panorama from Petit Som to Mont Beauvoir, passing through the southern Chartreuse.
Descend through the meadow to the Col de l'Aliénard.
(7) Take the path on the right that winds northwards through the Combe de l'Aliénard.
The path enters the forest again before joining the Chemin du Tracol, which comes from the Col de la Ruchère.
(8) From there, follow the good path that descends to the left. 300 metres further down, after crossing a few ponds that are difficult to get around, you will arrive at a large grassy crossroads.
(9) Turn left onto a path that runs due west and then heads north-west before zigzagging through the sharp limestone pavement.
This unmarked path joins the Pré de la Morte by crossing (not very clearly, but obviously) a sharp limestone pavement in its upper part and a second sharp limestone pavement in its lower part.
Note: you can bypass this section by continuing along the main path and taking the path on the left (marked) at the next crossroads.
Rejoin the marked trail at the lower junction of Pré de la Morte.
(10) Then follow the magnificent Pré de la Morte trail to Les Riondettes (S/E).
stunning landscapes and lots of wildflowers.
