Ghislenghien - Coqueréaumont

Start at the Ghislenghien Industrial Estate, at the junction of Chemin du Fundus and Avenue des Artisans.

(S) Leave Chemin du Fundus on your left and follow Avenue des Artisans until the first road on your right, Chemin du Stoquoi, which you take. After the bend, take the first road on the right, Chemin du Petit Bois, then the first on the left, Chemin de la Mazenque.

(1) You will rejoin Chemin du Stoquoi, which you follow to the right. At the T-junction, turn left onto Chemin du Petit Bois, and continue to the next crossroads.

(2) Turn right onto Rue de la Sille. At the next junction, turn right onto Rue du Haut Aulnoy. Continue straight on at the next junction. Further on, ignore Chemin Royal on the right and continue to a T-junction.

(3) Turn right onto Place d’Isières, then take the first path on the left. This leads to a sports ground which you cross, following the path to the other side, where you’ll rejoin Chemin du Castillon. Turn left and, further on, cross the level crossing.

(4) Immediately after this, take the farm track on your right. At the end of it, on the Chemin des Crolites, turn left, go round the bend and, at the next bend, take Rue du Croquet on the right. At the Gites du Gravillon, the path has been taken over.

(5) Follow the fence located just opposite the car park entrance, through the tall grass, then, at the corner of the field, cross a small stream to rejoin the original path, the Sentier des Graviers. It leads out onto Chemin des Crolites.

(6) Follow it to the left, then take the first street on the right, Rue Criquegnies. It bends to the right, then turns left to become Chemin Croix Vasseau. Continue until you reach Route de Lessines. Turn left, then take the first street on the right.

(7) Follow Chemin de Tenre until you reach the Dendre, ignoring all side roads.

(8) Before the bridge, turn left onto the towpath, Ravel and via Tenera (St James’s Way). Go under the bridge next to the lock, and take the third small path on the left leading to the N56A or Chemin des Peupliers.

(9) Take this towards the town on the right and continue straight on until you reach the roundabout.

(10) Take the first exit towards Rue Maria Thomée (GR® 129), cross the Dendre Orientale. Turn left onto the street just after the car park, Grand’rue des Bouchers, then take the first street on the right to reach Rue de Brantignies.

(11) Turn left to reach the Grand'place, which you cross diagonally to find Rue aux Gâdes, which further on becomes Rue de Pintamont. You are now back on Via Tenera. Follow it to Promenade Roi Baudouin (small park).

(12) Turn left until you reach the pedestrian crossing to cross Rue de la Station. After crossing, turn right and stay on the pavement leading to the underpass, which you go through. Continue to Square des Locomotives.

(13) Take the first exit, go over the Blaton-Ath canal, and continue along Rue du Grand Pont, which becomes Chaussée de Valencienne after the junction with the N56 (Chaussée de Mons).

(14) Turn right into Ruelle Gros Pierre, cross the Dendre Occidentale, then go under the railway line. At the T-junction, turn left into Vieux Chemin de Tournai, which you follow to the next T-junction.

(15) Then turn right onto Chemin de la Marquette. At the first junction, take Chemin de l’Arbre Vert on the left to reach Chaussée de Tournai.

(16) Caution: this is a major and extremely busy road. There is a pedestrian crossing, but be careful – cars do not always stop! Cross the road and continue straight ahead along Chemin de l'Arbre Vert. At the first junction, carry on straight ahead; do the same at the next junction and the one after that.

(17) Take Rue Willaufosse on the left. When it bends left, continue along the path in front of you, on the right, until you reach Rue de Foucaumont.

(18) Follow it to the left, then take the first street on the right, Rue de Caplumont, and continue along it until you reach Chaussée Brunehaut, which you cross to continue straight ahead.

(19) Continue along Rue de Caplumont until you reach Rue Le Chat. Cross Place d’Houtaing, and take the first street on the left, Rue de Leuze; at the Y-junction, take the right-hand branch, Rue Dameries. Follow it until you reach a T-junction, ignoring all roads to the left or right.

(20) Turn right onto Rue Emile Albot and follow it until you have crossed a small stream. Then turn right onto Rue de la Chaussée. After the bend to the left, continue straight on along the farm track towards a beautiful solitary tree.

(21) At the T-junction, take Rue des Courbes to the right, then turn left onto the lovely tree-lined path.

(22) At the junction, turn left until the next bend, where you take Rue Gogard to the right, then right again at the next crossroads onto Rue Coqueréaumont. Continue until you reach a sort of refreshment bar on your left (E).
