Description of the walk

Park near the Church of Saint-Amand in Hellebecq, 31 Rue Chef-Lieu, 7830 Silly.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head to the right along Rue Chef-Lieu. Walk past the school.

(1) Turn left towards Vivier du Rieu and walk alongside the Boulky stream as far as the Moulin du Rieu (private property). Cross the bridge on the right which spans the Boulky. Further on, on the left, cross the bridge over the Sille. Pass through the turnstile and enter the meadow; put the wire back in place. Watch out for any cows; keep dogs on a lead. Head off to the right and follow the Sille.
Follow the Sille to the next turnstile; put the wire back in place here too. When you reach a gravel path, take it to the left. Cross the bridge over a small stream which joins the Sille a little further on, and continue between two flood-prone meadows.
Cross the Chemin de la Prairie and continue along the path directly opposite, between the houses, to reach Rue du Stocquoy.

(2) Follow it to the right. Just before the junction of three roads, opposite No. 30, take the path on the left towards Rue Tournibouge. Join it and follow it for a few metres to the left; you’ll soon come to a junction with a fairly wide grassy track.

(3) Turn right onto it, between nos. 25 and 23. This path narrows to become a farm track that leads up to Chemin Royal. Take Chemin Royal to the right to reach the junction with Rue de la Wallonie.

(4) Turn right onto this street; at the next junction, ignore Rue Tournibouge and, a few metres further on, you’ll come to the junction with Chemin du Leu.

(5) Turn left onto it. Initially straight, it curves to the right and joins Rue de la Sylle.

(6) Turn left and follow the Sille at a distance. You’ll reach the junction of Rue d’Hellebecq and Rue de la Station.
Turn right onto Rue de la Sylle, taking great care to watch out for traffic. Follow it for a few metres until you reach the old Railway Line 94 opposite Rue Wastinne.

(7) Turn right onto it and follow it along a straight stretch. You will then reach Rue Beauregard, with the glass recycling bin opposite; turn right onto it. Leave it very quickly to turn left into Rue Tour de la Vierge. You will then reach the junction with Rue du Chef Lieu, which you passed on the way out.

(1) Turn left to return to the car park near Saint-Amand Church in Hellebecq (S/E).

This route consists mainly of country lanes in the small village of Hellebecq. You can enjoy the fresh air to the full.
Our dog, which we were able to let off the lead given the rural setting, was delighted, as were we, surprised to discover a new path at every turn. Walk taken in October 2025.

A pleasant walk along the village paths. The section near the A8 motorway and the TGV line is quite noisy, but it doesn’t last too long and doesn’t spoil the enjoyment of the walk.
