On leaving Poigny la Forêt, on the D107 towards Guiperreux, park in the car park on the left. From the car park, the path (GR®1) climbs towards the Rochers d'Angennes, part of which was quarried at the beginning of the last century to make paving stones and pavements for Paris.
Follow theGR®1down towards the ponds, observing the different geological layers, rockfalls and fine sand "beaches", remnants of the time when the sea covered the Ile de France.
(1) Leave theGR® trail on your left and continue straight ahead (south-west) along the Route des Rabières. Follow this road for about 1.3 km. At a crossroads, turn right onto a road that soon crosses a stream and continues along a dyke. This will take you to the point (2).
(2) Take the path on the dyke to the north (on the right if you are coming from the abbey site, straight ahead if you have not passed it). Cross the D107 road and take the path opposite, towards the Carrefour de la Licorne.
(3). At the Carrefour de la Licorne, turn right towards the Carrefour du Petit Étang Neuf.
(4). At the crossroads of the Petit Étang Neuf, cross the road, then take the path opposite. After about 200 metres, turn right towards the pond. Pass the pond, continue straight ahead for about 300 metres until you reach the Arches de Poigny crossroads. Go straight up, then the path goes around the hill. At the fork in the two paths, take the road de la mouche on the right (not the road du gros buisson) for about 200 metres. There, you will rejoin theGR®1on the right, which takes you back down to the road (which you follow for about 200 metres) and then back to the car park.
. We had a good laugh trying to guess what they were. This is a family hike (but not suitable for pushchairs), and we only came across a few couples (between 2pm and 5pm). The hike takes about two hours at a leisurely pace (it took us longer as I tend to be quite contemplative along the way).
