Fountains of Jouques

In Jouques, leave your vehicle in the car park on the edge of Boulevard du Réal, on the east side of Grand Pré, opposite the municipal library. This walk is not signposted.

(S/E) Set off along the street on the opposite side of the village, heading south, cross the bridge and immediately turn right onto the promenade along the Réal river. Further on, join the street and continue in the same direction until you reach the bridge. Cross it to reach the main street of the village (Boulevard de la République), at the Fontaine du Moulin fountain.

(1) Follow the boulevard to the right for about a hundred metres, then turn left onto Traverse Moreau. Join a street (Rue Grande) and follow it to the left, passing in front of the gate of the Château des d'Arbaud (unfortunately private) and go up to the right to join another street (Rue des Baumes). Follow it to the left until you reach the Church of Saint-Pierre (fountain). Turn right onto Chemin Neuf. At the fork, keep left. Further on, ignore a path on the left and you will arrive at the clock tower.

(2) Continue straight ahead to reach the site of the Notre-Dame de la Roque Chapel.

(3) Retrace your steps back to the tower.

(2) Take a sharp right turn onto the path, which further on becomes a trail. At the intersection, turn right onto a trail that descends back into the village, passing a small eatery at the end and ending up on a street. Follow this street to the right to reach Rue Grande.

(4) Follow it to the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the intersection with Traverse de la Pousterie. Continue straight ahead for a few more metres until you reach a fountain, then retrace your steps and take Traverse de la Pousterie, which leads to the boulevard at the Fontaine de la Pousterie.

(5) Follow the boulevard to the left, with Grand Pré on your right, passing the Fontête fountain and then the fountain at the war memorial. At the end of Grand Pré, turn right onto Boulevard du Réal and return to the car park (S/E).

Very easy hike/walk, comfortable shoes recommended for the section on the trail.
