Road access: in Porté-Puymorens, take a small road towards "Étang de Lanoux" which crosses the village, passes by a lake and a car park, go to the end of the road and park (EDF power station).
(S/E) The trail starts behind an information board and climbs into the forest. It follows the stream uphill, east then north, with a few passages over rocks. Just before crossing a stream coming from the left, take the path that branches off to the left.
(1) The trail passes through the forest before arriving at a meadow and a flat area with a low wall. Follow the trail (yellow markings).
(2) At the T-junction, turn right. Follow the path which climbs slightly before descending to the Étang de Font Vive lake.
(3) Go around the lake on the left, following the yellow markings.
N.B. You can go to the bottom of the valley to see an orry (stone hut). Then return to the eastern shore of the lake.
(4) The path climbs then descends through the forest to arrive at the Ruisseau du Lanoux.
(5) Cross the bridge and the path climbs up opposite. Follow it.
(6) After a bend to the right, leave the path that climbs towards Lac de Lanoux on your left. The path veers southwest then west, crossing woods, meadows and avalanche zones (many trees on the ground but the path is clear).
In the forest, take a well-marked path that branches off to the right. Cross the Lanoux stream again to arrive at the car park where you started (S/E).
When a hailstorm also joined in, the descent became even more dangerous. Despite these inconveniences, this hike remains enjoyable with beautiful scenery.
