Parking is available at the leisure centre (picnic area) south-east of Muret.
(S/E) Head north-northwest on the D12a road (Chemin de Brioudes). Ignore all turnings on the right and, further on, pass under the power lines.
(1) Shortly after the crossroads, go straight ahead (Chemin Jean-Jacques de Roquade), leaving the D12a (return route) on your right. Further on, ignore a street on your left. When you reach Rue Jean Dabadie, turn right.
(2) At the next crossroads (Chemin de Lacombe, to be taken on the return journey), continue straight ahead along Via Garona. Shortly afterwards, cross the Route de Labarthe (D19) via the new roundabout and take the path (Via Garona) opposite into the fields, following the wall of the first house. A little further on, continue along the path (right turn) following the walls of the houses. Turn left onto the path blocked by large stones.
(3) Turn right onto the path (Via Garona) between the trees. Further on, leave Via Garona on the left and continue straight on towards the road.
(4) Turn left and go up the road (Chemin des Garosses) to the village. When you reach the stop sign after the descent, turn left through a passage around the small church of Saubens (historic monument).
(5) Turn left to follow the Garonne along the port path (Via Garona).
(6) Just after the restaurant, you can go down to a small beach on your right and then follow a path along the edge of the Garonne. A little further along this path on the left, there is a slight incline. Go up here as the rest of the path may be under water in winter.
Otherwise, leave the Via Garona and continue along the Garonne.
(7) At the end of the field, there is a small path on the right. Take a look around, as there is a lovely view.
Once you have retraced your steps, look for a path that climbs up the cliff just above. (Caution: it can be slippery when wet).
Once at the top, walk along the field for about 15 metres on a small path on the right through the bushes. Follow this path and then walk along the field to reach the top of the cliff overlooking Muret (superb view). Then leave the cliff heading east to find the fork in the road from the outward journey.
(3) Follow the route in reverse: head straight ahead and follow the path (Via Garona), cross the D19 and, 50 metres further on, you will arrive at the crossroads with Rue Chemin de Lacombe.
(2) Leave the outward route and turn left. Continue straight ahead, ignoring a street on your right. Further on, pass the Carmelite church on your right. Shortly afterwards, keep to your right, ignoring three streets on your left, and continue until you reach a crossroads you already passed on the way out.
(1) Turn left to reach the leisure centre (S/E) via the reverse route of the outward journey.
