Departure from the car park of the church in the village of Estantens.
(S/E) Head south on Rue de l'Église. At the end of this street, turn left/right and continue south on Chemin du Pontil. At the three-way junction, take the left branch and go around the residential area, keeping it on your left. At the end of this road, you will come to a fork in the path.
(1) Turn right and climb up to the Chapel of Saint-Amans, crossing the old stone bridge. The climb is steep with some roots, steps and ravines. There is a panoramic view at the top of the hill.
(2) Continue along the road until you reach a beautiful shaded path on the right.
(3) Follow it and join the ridge line (GR® signposts). You will reach the top of a hill (superb panoramic view of the Pyrenees).
(4) Continue along the path and descend into the valley. At the road, continue to the right and find, on the left, the start of a grassy path at the end of the right-hand bend, under a power line.
(5) Follow this path and enter the forest. After about 100 metres, turn right and descend to the fields. Pass under the power line and use the passageway for agricultural machinery to cross to the other side of the field. Reach the Garonne.
(6) Turn right and head towards the ferry and its house. Note the surprising sign showing the height of the Garonne flood. Continue along the road until you reach a crossroads with a small car park.
(7) Take the path on the left and continue along the trail that runs alongside the river through unspoilt countryside. This section also features roots, ravines and steps. At the road, continue left until you reach the discreet start of the botanical trail on the left.
(8) Follow this discreet path on the left of the cherry tree, then continue along the Garonne until you reach a fork near a playground on the right and a few easy steps.
(9) Turn right, go up Estanten and take the next street on the right, then the one on the left to reach the church car park (S/E).
